Billboard Outtakes: Darren, Was It Weird To Join...
Darren: No, it’s not weird. I was jealous because I missed my friends, and I wanted to be with them having fun. I was really proud of everybody. I showed up yesterday -- yesterday holy crap, it seems like a week --
Brian: We’ve done three shows since then!
Darren: I think anybody who creates and puts a lot of creative investment in something, you get really possessive and anal about specific things. But when it shows up you’re like “oh this is great, I’m such a dick for having any other kind of vision.” It’s really special and great to have fun with these guys. I’m actually kind of glad I came at the tail end when things are kind of locked in. It would have driven me crazy otherwise.
Joe: It’s nice because we’re really comfortable. I remember at the beginning thinking “oh my god, we’re going to have to change it at the end.” But then we got here and it was like “oh no, Darren will figure it out, just go, don’t worry.”
(This quote didn't fit in the forthcoming Billboard article I wrote, but I wanted to share it anyway because it's great. More outtakes coming later! And the actual article, of course.)
